Description:
The Oregon Renewable Energy Center located at Oregon Institute of Technology will host two Natural Step workshop sessions. Two identical sessions are offered, one from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and the other from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on June 4, 2010, at OIT in Klamath Falls. The Natural Step is a framework that creates a unifying view of the activities necessary to achieve sustainability and converts theory to practice using logical, practical criteria for consistent decision making. The framework is also used to help organizations act strategically to achieve goals throughout the organization. These workshops may be of particular interest for individuals in business, marketing, management, manufacturing, engineering and public policy. Certificates of attendance will be provided for professional development and academic portfolio purposes. The workshops are sponsored by the South Central Oregon Economic Development District and the Collins Companies. In-person workshops are usually only offered in Portland and Seattle at a cost of more than $100. The Klamath Falls workshops will be offered for $20 for non-students and $10 for students. Each workshop is limited to 40 people. Registration is available online, by mail-in check (made to SCOEDD), or at the door. Please call SCOEDD at (541) 884-5593 or visit www.naturalstepusa.org/scoedd for more information or to register. The Collins Companies have adopted TNS to make significant changes in their manufacturing processes and product development that have resulted in large financial savings. Attendees of these workshops will learn how to: • Define sustainability using a proven science-based framework that will guide organizational planning • Use The Natural Step Framework to achieve results • Use a step-by-step methodology to integrate sustainability throughout an organization • Identify relevant next steps to achieve an organization’s vision These workshops will be presented by the national director of The Natural Step USA, who will be visiting the Klamath Basin to learn more about the sustainability efforts in the area.
